Peaceful Transition

We decided to grill out tonight. I had taken up the food and went upstairs to check dad before we ate supper.

His breathing was a little more labored but otherwise there wasn't much change. I decided to put the oxygen concentrator back on him and gave him another drop of the liquid morphine. I know what time that was because I recorded it. It was 7:48 pm.

We held hands and prayed. I do not recall exactly the words I said. But I prayed that Dad's passing would be easy and that he would soon slip into the arms of his Savior.

When I returned upstairs and opened the door I was so surprised to see that dad was already gone. I had not expected that. I turned off the concentrator so I could make sure he wasn't breathing. And I put my hand on his chest and caressed his face. And thanked the Lord for granting our request.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts.

i too am so thankful that your dad went peacefully. i can just imagine you thanking the Lord as that is what i did just a little over 24 hours ago.

it seems almost surreal that in 5 days time, 3 of our loved ones have been released from their earthly bodies. besides your mom, your dad will also be greeted by helen and russ. what a comforting thought that is to me.

I am also glad that your dad passed peacefully. As Nancy said, it is a comforting thought to think of your dad whole and healthy again being escorted by Helen and Russ to find your mom waiting for him.

Rest comfortably tonight, Flinty. You have earned it.

No, No, No!!! It can't be possible, that all that we love, leave in such a short period of time?

Flinty, if it helps at all, I will do your grieving for you, for now? It will catch up, but there is no way this has hit you yet.

And that is our Lord's way of saving us, from too much pain?

OHMYGOD, I am so filled with sorrow. I have no words...but I know you will make it through this.

My heart is...broken?

Dear Flinty,
As soon as I read you said your dear Dad would not wake up, my thoughts were "this is his time" - again so like my own dear Father who appeared to make his decision this way.

God Bless you and your family dear Flinty and my heart goes out to yu all this morning. Sending my heartfelt sympathies to you all and I am so glad Dad's passing was peaceful.
