I served as caregiver for my parents from Nov 1998 until Sep 21 2007. Dad had Alzheimer's and he and I frequently sat on the porch of his home. I am making my own porch now.
Nice new digs, Terry! I love the old brick archetecture. Maybe I will scan some piic's of my Grand Parents House (in O. C.) that they built from the ground up, in 1930. It was so gorgeous!
I actually found some of the original Lumber Mill Prices, on an invoice, when we were madely cleaning, and preparing for the Estate Sale. I think they only paid $2,000.00 for every piece, including the foundation to the spiral banistered stair case!
I love the story of the last owners. Something tells me, you may stay in touch, if all goes well.
Fortunately some neighbors of my Grand Mother's bought hers. They are two young Doctors, they loved the house, and even intended to keep it as it was, with a little touching up. I was able to go see it, or see pictures anyway, once they were finished.
I found two etched crystal sconces, for one of the candeliers, and wrapped them carefully, for the new owners. I can't beieve they were never lost or broken, in 68 Years?
What an absolutely beautiful house! It looks SO big! The "new porch" area is fantastic as it is. Can't wait to see how you change things around. Congrats on the new place. Wishing you many, many years of happiness together in your new home. ((hugs))
Flinty – What a beautiful home! Love the story of the “former” owners and I too wonder if you will keep in touch with them. They sound like lovely people! Wishing you many, many wonderful moments and memories in your new home!
Rick- “*a bloggle of caregivers.*” sounds about right to me as well! You crack me up!

just now catchin' up reading the blogs. i like your new porch a lot.
Very nice! I'm really happy for you and Judy. So - where will the horses go? :)
a librarian friend suggested that the collective noun for librarians should be *a google*.
having just read a dozen or so caregivers' blog posts this morning, i'm thinking... *a bloggle of caregivers.*
The yard is large by city standards but not so much compared to either dad's place or Judy's or her mom's.
The horses get to stay at Judy's mom's. But it is only 5 miles so I am still feeding most of the time.
It is professionally landscaped but I suspect we'll be changing some of that.
Not sure if patios are porches but guess this one will have to do.
I will try to post some more pictures later. This place is smaller than Dad's house but larger than Judy's.
A bloogle sounds good to me!
Oh I love the house. That back patio looks great for entertaining. I'm so happy for you.
