I served as caregiver for my parents from Nov 1998 until Sep 21 2007. Dad had Alzheimer's and he and I frequently sat on the porch of his home. I am making my own porch now.

Wow. You guys really got hit hard. I almost feel sorry for the trees and I definitely feel sorry for the horses. At least the land is flat - the last ice storm we had was quite a challenge because of all our hills.
Glad you guys faired well and are thawing out. Thanks for sharing.
i remember we had a bad ice storm similar to that back in may of 1988. it sure can place havoc on a community. glad you survived and are safe.
thanks for sharing.
Oh my gosh, those poor horses. Can't you put blankets on them or something? Someone needs to invent some kind of weather proof jumpsuit for them.
loling at lori wanting the horses to have jump suits!!!!! hehehe I love the photos of you with all the ice! We got hit with something just like that last year and for the first time in 30 years my college closed down. That was only because the country forced them to! lol I enjoyed the photos and should post some of mine to show you because of course when I had no class that day last year I went out and took tons of photos! What else do photo kids do on a day off?
*hugs* and *love* my friend
How cool is that Flinty? You'll have to teach me, how to do a slide-show!
I talked to my poor Sister #2 today, and she STILL has no electricity. Fortunately she has a friend where she can stay, that has an empty 3 bd, 2 bth Condo, where everyone held up until theirs came back on, unfortunately for her, her street came on, but she had a tree break on her property, that landed right on her lines, and she has to find an electrician,(not easy and pay out of pocket. She requested prayers for this to happen soon!
I also feel for the horses, always, but they are amazingly resilent, and hardy, Lori. Just think of the days, of Cowboys & Indians, they just ate what they could find growing? Even during the dead of Winter?
Wow, you did get hit really hard. I've been watching the news and the damage they are showing from that ice storm. I hope you and all your friends are keeping warm. Very nice slide show. Thanks for sharing.
Lori - my horses do wear blankets! They aren't like a jumpsuit (they don't cover their legs) but they go all around their back, sides and tummy. It looks like a giant dog coat!
